Budget 2024 will be announced on Tuesday, 10 October 2023. The Digital Content team will publish a summary of Budget 2024 provisions following the Minister’s speech.
The HSE has resumed assigning GPs to medical card and GP visit card applicants. If you are refused by 3 GPs, the HSE will assign a doctor to you. State this on your application, including the names of declining GPs and their clinics. The GPs need to be based at 3 different clinics.
Fuel Allowance season started on 25 September 2023. It will be paid for 28 weeks, until 5 April 2024. The current rate of payment is €33 per week, or you can choose to get it paid in 2 lump sum instalments.
There will be a moratorium on electricity disconnections from:
- 1 October 2023 to 31 March 2024, for vulnerable customers
- 1 December 2023 until 31 January 2024, for all other domestic customers
You are no longer required to provide copies of birth certificates to claim a social welfare payment if you were born in Ireland and your birth is in the Register of Births. The Department of Social Protection can access this information directly.
