Some once-off cost of living payments announced in Budget 2024 will be paid this week:
- If you get an increase for a qualified child, you will get a lump sum of €100 on the same day that you get your primary social welfare payment
- If you get a Living Alone Increase, you will get a lump sum of €200 between 29 November 2023 and 1 December 2023 (you will get this on the same day that you get your primary payment)
- If you get the Carer’s Support Grant or Domiciliary Care Allowance, you will get a lump sum of €400 on 30 November 2023
You have a legal right to 5 days’ paid domestic violence leave if you need to take time off work because of the abuse. This is available from 27 November 2023.
The Government has proposed a new Pay-Related Jobseeker’s Benefit System to be introduced in late 2024.
The scheme for reduced toll fares for electric vehicles will end on 31 December 2023.
From 10 January 2025, it will be an offence to advertise alcohol on:
- Television between 3am and 9pm
- Radio on a weekday between midnight and 10am, and between 3pm and midnight
